Creative Ink Publishing Short Story Comp


Category: Fiction

Description: Theme - Promises. Length - up to 2000 words. Film Script consultant: BAFTA award winning Holby City producer and East End script writer.

Prizes: £0 for first place. Dozen Epublished - winning story basis for a film script.


Entry fee: £5 for one entry. Donated to the BHF and Hearts and Souls.

Kinereth Gensler Award

Category: Poetry

Description: For poetry manuscripts between 48 and 80 pages, by residents of New England, New York State, or New Jersey. 


Prizes: $2,000 for first place. Also book publication.
Entry fee: $25 for one entry. $30 for online submissions.
Deadline: 1st October 2013





Writer’s Digest Popular Fiction Awards

Category: Fiction

Description: For short stories up to 4,000 words in the following categories: sci-fi; romance; thriller; young adult; crime; horror. 


Prizes: $2,500 for first place. Also $500 for winner in each category.
Entry fee: $25 for one entry. $20 if submitted before September 16, 2013.

The Word Hut 11th Writing Competition

Category: Fiction

Description: Write a short story of up to 1000 words in length. It can be on any theme and in any genre. Previously blogged stories can be entered. All stories must be in English. Entries welcome from around the world. Fee paid via PayPal. Prize money sent via PayPal. Winning story also published on the website. 


Prizes: £60 for first place. Second prize £30; Third prize £15.

Harvest Gold Writing Contest

Ruth Rendell Short Story Competition


Category: Fiction

Description: Write a piece in any genre in no more than 1,000 words. The winner of the competition will receive £1,000 and will be commissioned to write four further stories for stroke charity over the course of one year. Entries can be submitted online or by post. Southern Cross Literary Competition



The  Southern Cross Short Story Competition, a biennial event run by Ballarat Writers Inc, has been providing  encouragement and support to emerging Writers since 1988.
Short stories of up to 3500 words are welcome from all writers and there is no restriction on the number of entries each writer may submit.
Entry fee is $20 per story and the closing date is October 30, 2013.
Results will be announced at our final reading for the year on Thursday 5th Dec, 7.30pm at the Ballarat Mechanics Institute. Shortlisted entrants will be notified in advance.
The Prize:
The winning entry will receive $1500 (AUD) in prize money.
There will be a short-list of three stories and each will receive feedback from the judge.

Prizes:
1st $200.00; 2nd $50.00; HC Certificate, C Certificate
In addition to the cash prizes and the certificates Finals Judge Sally Odgers is also offering the Sally Odgers Award to an entrant of her choice, giving them a chance to win an hour's edit or assessment by her, plus a mystery prize which is not book-related.






RBA Short Story Competition

Lovecraft, Weird places and Story cubes

Description: Charity competition for short stories (2000 words max) with the theme of Lovecraft and Strange places.
